Mini-Term Work!

Although mini-term seems short the Kindergarten Water class continues to challenge themselves in the studio, at the park and throughout string work. Throughout this time of Advent we worship as a whole school, singing as a community joyously as we wait for the birth of Christ. It is hard to contain the excitement for the holidays and students frequently discuss holiday plans and hopeful wishes for Christmas.

Students continue to work past "Cat's Whiskers"in strings. As they continue to learn new steps some students have already mastered the final goal of "Jacob's ladder." Students continue to encourage and offer helpful strategies as we practice throughout the day. 

Our class was blessed with student interns both in the classroom and studio throughout mini term. Mikayla and Joely worked in the classroom in the morning assisting teachers through various tasks. Mikayla practiced strings with students, helped build a strong wall at blocks and read stories to students at books. 

Joely worked with small groups of students as she fearlessly demonstrated Jacob's ladder. She also read a silly math book to us as we counted the pictures on each page. Joely joined us through snack and math workshop in mini term. 

At the sculpture table students form figures for our own Nativity scene for the classroom. Students choose between animals, angels, Mary, Joseph and others present during the birth of Jesus. Please look through our gallery and enjoy these creations!

 

This winter weather sure has been fun for students! Together the Kindergarten classes constructed a snowman. Students worked to create three large snowballs and stacked them on top of each other. They found leaves and sticks for the nose and eyes for their snowman. 

The slide has been extra popular during this cold weather. Students take turns sliding and counting to see how long it takes for them to get to the bottom. 

It has been a pure joy working with the Kindergarten Water class throughout the first part of this year. I look forward to more adventures and experiences that we share together.
