This week Kindergarten Water practiced working with syllables. We practiced with smaller words with only one syllable and worked our way up to words with 3 parts, or syllables, such a bicycle. The class loved to clap and say the words at the same time together.
In teacher's group we use similar math language such as "sorting" when we are sorting our words and finding out how many syllables are in each. Here the students have completed the chart and stand up together to clap out all the words!
New words are added as smaller words are mastered.
Another group enjoyed practicing the more difficult words, with 3 syllables and one student clapped while the others counted the syllables.
Lastly we practiced saying one another's name and figuring out how many syllables we had in our names. This was great practice learning names and clapping our syllables.
A fun challenge in teacher's group was clapping a very long word- onomatopoeia! We all worked together to clap this long word and find that it had 6 syllables! WOW!
