First week of school!

The first few days of Kindergarten are filled with new experiences. The students are excited to use new materials, explore new spaces and learn new songs. There is a plan for every new introduction that occurs throughout the first six weeks of Kindergarten.

New friendships are blossoming in the Kindergarten Water class. Students organized their own game of "Duck, Duck, GOOSE!" while playing at the park. They invite one another to play and are excited about these new relationships. 

                                              

Throughout this week students are being introduced to a new block every day. They learn three important words, "Safe, Strong and Beautiful" which they will use throughout this entire year. Their goal is to build structures that encompass the meaning of these words.

Students begin to explore with different math materials. It was exciting to hear some prior knowledge from students including, "That is a pattern!" or "That shape is a triangle!" They work together throughout the room and see how they can use these materials in different ways. 

Lunch has been a great way to make new friends and start conversations. Students are excited to reflect on their park time and find out about one another.

New routines, procedures and vocabulary are introduced slowly everyday. This ensures students are mastering certain things in the classroom for future success and independence throughout the year. It may be helpful to ask your child "What new place did you meet today?" 

I am so excited to start the year and to get to know each and every child individually!
