Meeting more teachers!

The Water class has been enjoying working with multiple teachers in both Music and Art Workshop. Students are learning new songs and mastering new routines through these special areas. Becoming more comfortable with multiple staff members and seeing these familiar faces throughout the day is an excellent way for students to feel comfortable in their school.

The Music room is one floor up from our classroom. The Water class has learned how to sing "Hello!" instead of simply saying "Hello" to Mrs. Mauldin. 

The Water class is learning "Little Sally Walker" with Mrs. Mauldin. Students are practicing taking turns being in the middle and saying each others names. In this song we are practicing new vocabulary by "turning to the east, turning to the west." 

"Circle round the zero" is a new song we have learned. Walking around the outside of the circle rather than through the middle has been a new challenge. The students enjoy finding a partner and matching elbows, clapping hands and tapping each other on shoulder to switch places in the circle. 

Mrs. Norcia is the Art Workshop teacher. She brings a lot of experience and expertise in working with children as she is the lead teacher in the Sky class. Mrs. Norcia has a passion for exploring children's artistic abilities and helping them to feel confident in all of their work. 

Students have Art Workshop in the studio. It is another way for them to feel comfortable in the space where they will be working all year long. Mrs. Norica leads them in a meeting where they discuss the tasks to be completed for the day. 

During the first week of Art Workshop students' focused on drawing different types of lines including straight lines across, straight lines down and diagonal lines. These skills will be practiced in Paint during work periods in the mornings. 

Students are also enjoying getting to know new games in Gym and exploring new books in the Library. 

Working in these special areas helps grow their knowledge of new procedures and routines and gives students new places to explore and get to know. The Water class has Music on Monday and Wednesday, Gym on Tuesday, Art Workshop on Thursday and Library on Friday. A good question to ask today may be, "How was Music today, do you remember any songs you learned?"
