Saying goodbye to summer!

In Kindergarten, we are learning to distinguish between different seasons. What does fall look like? How do we know that Winter is near? We took a walking trip to a place that makes all of us think of a hot summer day. It is an exciting way to say goodbye to summer and hello to all the new happenings in fall.

Students walked with a purpose to the ice cream shop. They wondered how long it would take to get there and often questioned "Are we there yet!"

Students raise hands to tell whether they choose chocolate or vanilla, cone or cup and of course sprinkles or no sprinkles. It was a tough decision but many students knew exactly what they wanted. 

Ordering themselves and using a loud voice helps students to remember their order. This was not a challenge and all of the Water students knew exactly what they wanted. 

Students ate with one another. They compared their choices which were later analyzed in the class. In the water class there are more chocolate lovers than vanilla. 

Students talked with one another at small tables and enjoyed this treat. Ben and Jerry's was an excellent way to say farewell to summer!

Music was playing, so naturally the Water class students started to dance. They could not contain their excitement and pleasure with this activity.

This walking trip was an exciting time for everyone. We practiced walking with a purpose, closing gaps, keeping our eyes forward and watching for directions. It is an excellent way to get ready for walking trips in the future, including our walking trip to Frog and Toad!
