Back to School!

After many days apart we were all excited to get back in the classroom. Many students had different experiences this past week and all of us had a chance to share. The heartfelt concern and compassion the students had for one another showed me the strength and love inside our class.

Many students were thankful for their families, friends and neighbors who helped them through the storm.

We were also thankful for things we sometimes take for granted such as tall trees, warm food and our bedrooms. 

 We also talked about things that scared us throughout the storm. 

During our rhymes and chants we stayed close and warm.

Students shared stories and a small blanket during the week we returned to school. Together we talked about things that scared us, things we were thankful for and also wrote prayers to God. It is so wonderful to be back together!

Adventures in Kindergarten Water!

Kindergarten Water took a few trips throughout October. We practiced for the Hudson Hike by walking to Castle Point. It was exciting to stand at the top and look out at the Hudson River. We also had a chance to climb on the cannon! This helped us to be strong walkers and careful observers for our hike!

The students really enjoyed riding on a big bus to get to our destination.

Kindergarten Water students and Kindergarten Earth students walked together and followed the trail. 

Throughout the hike we had chances to stop and draw things that we saw in nature. There was so much to see and hard to pick one thing to draw!

Isaiah and Tanya were careful observers. 

The students were excited to use their Observation Books that they designed in Teacher's Group leading up to our field trip.

We stopped to look at the Giant Bridge. We knew we were getting closer when we started to see The Little Red Lighthouse!

Our scramble was a chance for us to climb, grab and slide. We veered off the trail to climb up and explore nature even more. We slid down to get safely back to the trail!

To end the day we stopped by the beach. We searched for sea glass and other interesting things to bring  home. 

We had such a great day!
