Enjoying Church Square Park inside!

This week Kindergarten Water created our park in the blocks area. Park is a place we love to visit and explore and it has been exciting to watch it come to life indoors. It was important to make a plan and figure out all of the different areas we needed to include together. It was wonderful to see the important details being added throughout this week, such as the top of the ropes dome that everyone strives to reach!

First, we first drew a map together to create a plan. Students are welcome to add to the map as they think of more ideas or more structures to build. As we discussed important sections of the park, I wrote the students' words. As our park continues to grow, students are checking off the areas from the list as they are built and perfected. 

We walk by the gazebo everyday on our way to park. It was a great way to show the entrance to the park in the blocks area. Many students are noticing more details about the park and gazebo after we started this challenge. They want to add the writing that they have now seen at the top of the gazebo, something I had not noticed until the students showed me!

Many students agreed that the piece of spinning equipment in the new park needed to be added to our design. This structure is an excellent model of the equipment.

The dome is the tallest part of our blocks structure. The unit block represents the piece where all the ropes come together at the top of the dome. 

The swings area is a little more secluded and off to the side, just as it is in Church Square Park! 

This has been such an exciting challenge for the students. They have really enjoyed adding to map and creating a realistic representation of our park that we love so much. It will be exciting to see what other details they can add over the next few days!
